DJ Meem
Growing up on an isolated farm in rural NSW, musical inspiration was limited - but nevertheless a young Meem sought out whatever music he could (like bootlegged Eazy-E tapes & many un-namable teen bands) and was inspired to paint a large banner proclaiming ‘I LOVE MUSIC’. Since then not much has changed (minus collecting teen band tapes). He still gets music from wherever he can and music definitely runs deep through his soul.
With a mammoth music collection, Meems musical tastes are nothing short of diverse. His interest in all genres of music makes for dynamic and broad-reaching DJ sets. A love of Funk music (in all its forms) is the backbone of many DJ sets, although aside from Funk you may also hear Disco, Boogie, Hip Hop, Afrobeat, African, Reggae, Soul, Jazz, Hillbilly, Jump Blues, Swing and Instrumental Beats. His sets are praised for diversity, flow and fun. Meem has a genuine approach to playing the music he loves.
Meem has DJ’d widely across Australia and has supported both Thievery Corporation and Tom Findlay (Groove Armada). He has also played in European Countries such as Croatia, Hungry and The UK.
